The 10 best romance novels of 2022 - The Washington Post

Image
Romance, more than any other genre, is one that readers come to when they need hope. The genre affirms the belief that anyone — no matter who they are — can find not only love but also a Happily Ever After. In the past couple of years that feeling, that promise, has felt more necessary than ever. For me, this year has been a reminder that the personal is always political, and I've found myself reaching for romances with protagonists who are not only looking for that glorious HEA but also healing, showing up for their communities, being courageous enough to fight for justice and striving to live authentically. 'You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty,' by Akwaeke Emezi Return to menu Feyi's connection to celebrity chef Alim is instant and undeniable. Now for sale: this idyllic cottage owned by Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - Time Out UK

Image
Sherlock Holmes fans, assemble: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's old haunt is up for sale. Bignell Wood, a rural retreat in the New Forest, Hampshire, was one of the author's main abodes between 1925 and 1930. It's believed that his wife Jean Leckie loved the property so much that the esteemed writer decided to buy it as a gift for her.  Interior designer Jane McIntyre and her family have lived in the property for the past 16 years and have now decided to put it on the market. When McIntyre first moved in, the building was in a pretty dire state but has now been restored with modern-day fittings, featuring some nods to the author.  One of the rooms, for example, is painted in red in a nod to Doyle's 'A Study in Scarlet', which he may have written in that very room.  The property also has some not-so desirable features (or desirable, depending on who's looking). The author is believed to have carried out sea...

Ravens-Jaguars Post-game Quotes (11/27) - BaltimoreRavens.com

HEAD COACH JOHN HARBAUGH (opening statement) "OK, appreciate you being here. Hats off to the Jaguars; they played a good game, made plays when they needed to make them and found a way to win a tough football game. I thought it was going to be that kind of game; it was and they won it. We're disappointed, but we're moving on. We have to get ready for the next one. We have the Broncos coming in Sunday at our place, and we're going to get ready for that." (on if the last Jaguars touchdown looked like it was in to him) "They reviewed it. I'm not sure what they said. No one explained it to me – why they didn't say the shoe was out – but I didn't get any explanation on that." (on the decision to try a 67-yard field goal attempt instead of a Hail Mary at the end of the game) "Yes, I think the kick has a better chance than a Hail Mary." (on the Jaguars moving the ball effectively in the fourth quarter and what adjustments they made that gav...

Image By: Tim Mosenfelder/ImageDirect Tupac Shakur  left this world far too soon: The rapper and actor died in September 1996 at just 25 years old, days after he was targeted by unknown assailants in a drive-by shooting. More than two decades later, Shakur's legacy lives on through his profound poetry and insightful lyricism. While some of his music tackled issues of drugs, poverty, sexism and violence, other songs seemed to glorify those ideas—a testament to his own contradictory nature. "I got a big mouth. I can't help it. I talk from my heart. I'm real," Shakur said in a 1994 interview. The son of activist  Afeni Shakur ,  2Pac (the stage name he went by in his music) made it a point to not just raise awareness about racial, economic and social injustices in his music, but also to raise tempers. As Shakur once said about t...
