That's $337 above the California average and $537 more than the average cost of car insurance nationwide. We looked at average rates in the Los Angeles metro area from the 13 largest insurers in California for several types of drivers. In most cases, we were able to find Los Angeles auto insurance rates that were cheaper than the California average. Shopping around is essential, because no single company is cheapest for every driver.
